Application Process & Important Dates:

1. Get Started
   To begin an application, click Apply. If you already have a SurveyMonkey Apply account, sign in using your existing credentials. If you are a new user, click Register in the upper-right corner to create an account.
   
   Be sure to save your login credentials. You can save your progress, return to your application at any time before the deadline, and submit it once all required tasks are complete.
   
   
2. Work On Your Application
   You do not need to complete your application in one sitting – your information is automatically saved as you work, and you can return at any time before the application deadline by signing back into your account.
   
   Your application consists of several tasks. As you complete each task, click Mark as Complete. All tasks must be marked as complete before you can submit your application. You may edit completed tasks by clicking the three dots in the upper-right corner of the task and selecting Edit.
   
   
3. Request Recommendations
   One of the tasks in your application is requesting recommendations. We encourage you to complete this task as soon as you begin your application so your recommenders have ample time to submit their recommendation forms while you continue working on the rest of your application. Applications and recommendation forms are due Friday, September 4, 2026.
   
   As part of the application process, you must request at least two, but no more than four, recommendations through SurveyMonkey Apply. Recommenders must submit their recommendation forms through SurveyMonkey Apply; emailed or mailed recommendations will not be accepted. The system will automatically email your recommenders with instructions for completing and submitting the recommendation form on your behalf. You may also include an optional personal message with your request.
   
   
4. Submit Your Application
   Submit your completed application no later than Friday, September 4, 2026. We strongly encourage you to submit your application before the deadline to allow time to confirm that all required materials, including at least two recommendation forms, have been received. As the deadline approaches, we will notify you if fewer than two recommendations have been received so you can follow up with your recommenders or request additional recommendations if needed.
   
   Once you submit your application, it cannot be edited. You may download a PDF copy of your submitted application for your records.
   
   
5. In-Person Interview with Selection Committee
   All applicants will receive notification on whether or not they are selected as a finalist.  All applicants chosen as finalists must be available for personal interviews.  Interviews will be conducted by the Rice Leadership Selection Committee in conjunction with the USA Rice Outlook Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in December of 2026.
   
   
6. Admissions Announcement
   The 2027-2029 Rice Leadership Development Class will be announced at the Annual Awards Luncheon at the USA Rice Outlook Conference.
